concept
The concept of Keringet is simple. Primarily the environment, indigenous flora and
fauna, sustainable living and classic design, as per photo right of our
last project.
Full use will also be made of all local building materials, makuti (palm leave
thatch), Maji Chumvi stone and coral blocks locally quarried.
Each house will be in the African or Swahili style and hidden from view from
immediate neighbours. Space! Each home will have a 400 sq. meter
footprint.
There will be no internal fencing and the grounds will be communally
cared for to achieve a coastal ecological environment of indigenous
trees shrubs and flowers. The will be no dogs or cats.
All connecting paths and roads will avoid being in the traditional
"straight" European format.
The property has just been fully walled and a horse riding/walking track
of some three kilometres will meander throughout the entire grounds.
A suitably designed water feature is also projected.
It is intended that the buyers of these properties will become
shareholders of the management company, Keringet Properties Ltd. A
subsidiary of Keringet Estates Ltd., a company originally incorporated
in Kenya in 1956 by Count Dario Lucio Vincenzini.
The current owners/directors of Keringet Estates Ltd, Sabine Funk and
Michael Calnan have lived on the south coast of Kenya for a combined
total of 60 years and have a wealth of experience in the area.
They are both currently directors of the successful Funzi Furniture
Factory (www.funzifurniture.com) and The Handmade Web Ltd.. an internet
development company. Sabine also has the “Msitu Garden Centre” and
Funzi Designs. A successful interior design company.
